Complications on the core- Mental development
our complications can be classified into various categories based on various different parameters. We observe that we are all of different age groups which makes us different and our maturity level different from each others at the core level, The biggest problem which we face today is not something new it is not something which we can't fight , not something which demands a subtle approach but it is a big problem until we all recognise it and together try to work towards it, I am talking about mental development, if we don't care about these small issues, we will end up destroying ourselves.
These days many social workers are completely immersed in making people aware of mental issues and are thus providing appropriate solutions to them which include- stress management, anger management, and more . It is a very appreciable step taken by these individuals we have to care about others in order to make a good society.
These days the biggest psychological issues are -
1. depression
Depression as a disorder has always been a focus of attention of researchers in India. Over the last 50-60 years, large number of studies has been published from India addressing various aspects of this commonly prevalent disorder. Depression is a disorder of major public health importance, in terms of its prevalence and the suffering, dysfunction, morbidity, and economic burden. Depression is more common in women than men. The report on Global Burden of Disease estimates the point prevalence of unipolar depressive episodes to be 1.9% for men and 3.2% for women, and the one-year prevalence has been estimated to be 5.8% for men and 9.5% for women. It is estimated that by the year 2020 if current trends for demographic and epidemiological transition continue, the burden of depression will increase to 5.7% of the total burden of disease and it would be the second leading cause of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), second only to ischemic heart disease.
2.Bullying
Bullying is an intentional and repetitive act of physical or psychological aggression, where the aggressor is more powerful than the victim . Meta-analytic studies have confirmed the marked prevalence of and risk factors associated with bullying perpetration and victimization among children and adolescents in school. In a recent survey conducted in 79 countries with over 300,000 participants, 30% of the adolescent respondents reported that they had been victims of bullying in the past 30 days
3.Peer Pressure
Peer pressure is all about the desire to fit into the group. The teen believes that it is all right to engage in any activity that will help him to prove his allegiance to the peer group. They feel a sort of pressure or coercion to get involved into negative peer pressure activities. This peer pressure is always straightforward where the teen feels that he has no other alternative but to sink in and feel ‘accepted’ by the group. Individual preferences get shaped and moulded in a very major way due to peer pressure. Most of the individual choices in regard to fashion, books, movies and music and even cuisines get influenced due to peer pressure. The effect is considered diminutive due to the fact that the adolescent rarely gets a chance to explore the various options available.
